the answer.

EgressEgress is another word for “exit” or “to leave a place”. In building code it refers to the means of exiting a building or classroom. Egress should never be restricted, according to IBC. Devices that barricade classroom doors violate egress and may put students at risk. 123 Lock-Down Latch does not violate egress.

Fire CodeTo comply with fire code, fire rated doors must remain closed when class is in session.
Please discuss door ratings with your school facility manager. |
Proper UsageBecause the 123 Lock-Down Latch keeps a locked door open, allowing free egress, if the latch is on a fire rated door, it should be engaged during passing periods only, so teachers are in compliance with fire code. When class is in session, slide the Latch to the retracted position so the door remains shut (and locked).
